Study on Recovery Process of Normal Body Temperature in Neonates


Abstract
This study was done to know the recovery process of normal body temperature in neonates.
The subject were ninety neonates who were born at Chonnam University Hospital and Jeil Obstetrical & Gynecological Clinic In Kwang Ju City.
Data were gathered form June 25 to August 31, 1989 by using the thermometers.
The result may be summarized as follows :
1. The average time required for recovery of normal body temperature was 5 hours ; 67.9 percent of the neonates recovered normal body temperature in 3¡­6 hours.
2. The greater the body weight or the higher the body temperature of the neonates at the nursery, the less time was required for recovery of normal body temperature.
3. When the neonates were arrived at nursery, the axillary temperature was higher in order ; normal vaginal delivery, c-delivery, and vacuum delivery.
4. The rectal temperature was 0.76¡É higher than the axillary temperature when they were arrived at the nursery.
